Professional Mobility, which took over from Shopmobility Sheffield, is set to stay in Sheffield’s Crystal Peaks shopping centre after customers flooded in with requests to keep the service running.

The mobility store initially took over from the Shopmobility Sheffield unit in the centre of Crystal Peaks on a temporary basis, after the charity closed during the Christmas period in 2018.

However, Professional Mobility is now going to run the service permanently due to popular demand from customers.

The firm will continue to charge the same £6 a day rate for rentals as the charity did and will subsidise the service by selling mobility equipment from the shop.

John Randle, the owner of Professional Mobility, told the Star: “We were persuaded to stay and take over the old Shopmobility unit after being bombarded with requests from customers.

“We’re happy to be able to stay at Crystal Peaks and continue to provide this vital service.”

Professional Mobility will move to the entrance of Crystal Peaks on Monday 25th of February.

The shopping centre’s manager, Lee Greenwood, added: “We’re delighted to be working with an independent South Yorkshire business which brings with it many years of expertise and high levels of customer service, in keeping with our own approach to customer care.

“This is a very valuable partnership for Crystal Peaks and our customers.”
