Justina Nurse Stuart Mobility

Mobility retailer Stuart Mobility, a company specialising in seating, has ranked in this year’s Small Biz 100, recognising some of the UK’s very best small business entrepreneurs.

Part of the Small Business Saturday campaign, Stuart Mobility’s entry into the Small Biz 100 list follows in the footsteps on mobility retailer People First Mobility in 2017, providing the Derbyshire family firm with valuable exposure.

Growing organically since launching their own retail company back in May 2015, husband and wife team Stuart and Justina Nurse, Directors of Stuart Mobility, specialise in supplying rise and recline chairs, healthcare chairs and specialist seating nationwide to homes, nursing and care homes, the NHS and hospices.

Discussing the decision to enter the company into the competition, Justina says she wanted to try and “buck the trend” for retailers by showcasing how a small family company could find success.

“Life for retailers is particularly challenging at the moment, so we wanted to be part of the campaign to shine a positive light on retail once again and help promote independents to show that people don’t have to go to the big chains and franchises,” she commented.

Small Business Saturday takes place on Saturday 7th December, with an event planned at Derby Enterprise Centre.

The Prime Minister, the Chancellor of the Exchequer and the Mayor of London were among those publicly supporting the campaign in 2018, alongside more than 90 percent of local councils. The 2019 campaign is set to be even bigger.

Discussing why she believed Stuart Mobility was chosen out of the vast number of applicants, Justina told THIIS: “I honestly have no idea but we are really thrilled. I believe it’s because we are retail and business-to-customer which is what the Small Business Saturday campaign originally started out as.  We are also a family independent business and offer a traditional service that people still appreciate.”

In the 100 days running up to Small Business Saturday, the campaign will shine the spotlight on each Small Biz 100 company in order to celebrate and support the selected businesses, with each company being allocated a day where celebrations will focus on them.

The celebrations will see Stuart Mobility profiled in the media and on Small Business Saturday’s social media pages and the company will also have the opportunity to attend events at Downing Street, the House of Lords and the Treasury with the Chancellor of the Exchequer.

“As part of our SBS campaign, we are launching our new website on our SBS day which is the 5th October and part of this is the new Customer Journey film that we mentioned in our Retailer Spotlight back in January,” finished Justina.

“We are really pleased with it and it will hopefully demonstrate to customers exactly what we are about and the service we deliver.”
