Mobility Plus accessibility figuresAccessible bathroom specialists, Mobility Plus, has created a detailed summary of the best shared office spaces in London for employees and employers with accessibility requirements.

The firm analysed over 50 of London’s shared offices for the study which highlighted the best workspaces for workers and entrepreneurs with disabilities.

By looking at factors like the number of disabled bathrooms per floor, ramp access and proximity to the nearest accessible station, it created the ultimate index for disabled-friendly working in London.

In doing its study Mobility Plus found that 55 per cent of shared offices have one or less disabled bathroom per floor, 19 per cent don’t have step-free access and 14 per cent don’t have any disabled lift access.

Proximity to underground and overground stations with disabled accessed was also analysed, with the study finding that 29 per cent of offices are more than 0.5 miles away from the nearest accessible tube station, while 10 per cent are more than one mile away

Jon Pearce, Marketing manager at Mobility Plus commented: “In some ways it’s powerful that some shared office spaces and boroughs clearly prioritise accessibility.

“Camden and Westminster in particular. In others there is more work to do across the capital when it comes to accessibility in the workplace.

“Even from things as simple as making sure each floor has a disabled bathroom.”

Mobility Plus is a supplier of mobility bathrooms across the UK. Its wide range of walk-in showers, baths and wet-rooms makes it possible for people with mobility restrictions of all ages to enjoy a safe and independent bathing experience.

Earlier this year, the Business Disability Forum launched a set of online resources to help businesses become more accessible places for disabled workers and customers after a survey found that only 52.3 per cent of disabled people were in employment.
