Scottish mobility retailer Mobility Matters has opened a new store in Kilmarnock which is solely focused on reclining chairs and adjustable beds.

This is the fifth store for the family-run firm, which has been operating for 22 years and covers Ayrshire and the surrounding counties.

The store is known for supplying a wide variety of mobility scooters, along with wheelchairs, daily living aids and rise and recliners, but the Portland Street store, named Robert’s Recliners, will focus on beds and chairs.

Owner Robert Frew, who inherited the retailer from his father, says that the aim is to give customers a personalised service and help them choose the most appropriate equipment.

Specialist staff will be on hand to talk customers through the different pieces available and answer any questions.

Robert told the Daily Record that its experience in the sector would ensure customers are provided with all the information they need to make the right decision.

“We’re also Ayrshire’s largest independent stockist of scooters, furniture and daily living aids, and our staff are knowledgeable and friendly.”

The interior of the spacious store has been designed to make customers feel at ease when browsing the shop.

After being guided around the shop, customers will have the opportunity to test out any furniture in a safe, hygienic way.

Innovative beds are available in a wide range of makes and models available, some with massage functions and offering adjustable support for key areas of the body, such as the knees, hips, back, neck and head.

The store will also offer a wide range of single and dual motor reclining chairs which will be available in a range of colours and fabrics.

Last year, Mobility Matters had an application to convert a vacant yoga studio at an Irvine Industrial Estate into a new mobility scooter storage and distribution facility approved, providing more space for customers to try before they buy.
