Surewise by Mobility in MotionDerbyshire-based automobility manufacturer Mobility in Motion has announced a new driving solution designed for the ever-changing demands of accessible car travel.

Evolved from an existing Brig-Ayd product, the SureDrive’s mechanical push/pull accelerator and brake system transfers pedal controls to the driver’s hand to offer smooth and responsive control.

It offers discreet through-dash installation for enhanced legroom and aesthetics as well as customisable handle grips for a personalised fit.

With an estimated 1.7 million disabled drivers in the UK, around one in 20 drivers will need adaptations to ensure they have freedom when driving.

Unfortunately, not all disabled drivers are aware of these accessibility products, including Mobility in Motion Ambassador and Paralympian, Robyn Love, who expressed that she ‘honestly didn’t know adapted cars were a thing’ before getting a car through the Motability Scheme.

Since partnering with the company, she has learned of the breadth of solutions available, such as adaptations to get you seated and support with loading a mobility device within the car.

British Paralympic basketball star Robyn Love, known for representing Great Britain in the 2016 Paralympic Games, is helping to spotlight the importance of automotive accessibility.

“I honestly didn’t know adapted cars were a thing – steering balls, hand controls, moving the pedals. It’s life-changing. Once I discovered it, I never looked back,” Love shared.

Reflecting on the new SureDrive products, she added: “The pull is smoother, easier, and less effort in city driving.’

Commenting on the SureDrive Hand Controls, Love said, ‘The difference is unreal! They are smooth and I love that the bar is tucked in! I can sit closer to the wheel.”

Mobility in Motion recently announced a strategic partnership with WheelPower, the national charity for wheelchair sport.
