Millbrook Healthcare donates to Guide Dogs for the Blind imageIntegrated community equipment service provider Millbrook Healthcare has donated £1,000 to its chosen charity Guide Dogs for the Blind, in memory of late colleague Alex Underwood.

Millbrook says the charity is special as one of its employees, Wendy Allwood, Rehabilitation Coordinator on the Sight and Hearing Team at the provider’s Dorset Service Centre, has a guide dog. Uschie, a 6-year-old Labrador-Retriever cross, is Wendy’s third guide dog.

Wendy told the provider about the difference her guide dogs have made to her, giving her back her independence and confidence and ensuring she can get around safely. According to Guide Dogs for the Blind, it’s estimated to cost over £63,000 to support a Guide Dog throughout its training and working life.

Millbrook says that it hopes its £1,000 donation to Guide Dogs for the Blind can help make a difference to someone else’s life.
