With no signs of its store-opening streak abating, Middletons is continuing to increase its presence in the South West with the impending launch of its Exeter branch.

Cutting the ribbon on 19th October at 10:30am, the new Exeter outlet will mark the company’s third new store in the South West since August and eighth branch opening this year.

The bricks and mortar proposition from the owners of Bristol-based direct-selling furniture firm Oak Tree Mobility, Middletons’ store portfolio has skyrocketed since receiving a £3.8million investment from the Development Bank of Wales and Wealth Club.

The investment has enabled Middletons’ owners, Ricky Towler and Tom Powell, to drive ahead with its national retail ambitions, with the pair confirming its plan to open 24 stores across the UK by the end of 2020.

In 2018, Middletons completed the first phase of its store launch-opening program with nine new branches.

This year, Middletons’ rapid expansion pace has continued, with seven brand-new outlets across Brierley Hill, Coventry, Cheltenham and Cannock in the West Midlands; Swindon and Plymouth in the South West; as well as Nottingham in the East Midlands.

Speaking with director Tom Powell in September, he hinted more stores were on the way coming towards the end of 2019 but did not reveal the locations.

“After a run of successfully opening 12 locations in 18 months, we’re now looking to open another 10 by the end of 2020 in some key locations across the UK,” he said.

“We never announce a new store until we have everything in order but we already have a number lined up ready – the next one is due in October! Anybody already in the industry looking for a new challenge with a forward-thinking company, I’d recommend you give us a call.”

Discussing the decision to enter South West, an area with a number of already well-established retailers, Tom told THIIS the region is a key location for its national retail ambitions.

According to the company, the Exeter opening day will include free refreshments, a grand ribbon cutting and other activities throughout the day, alongside an opening day sale with £200 off selected scooters, half price on selected rise and recline chairs and 10 percent of adjustable beds.

The new store location is: 4 Trusham Road, Marsh Barton, Exeter, EX2 8QH
