Kate Middleton lookalike to mark the launch of the Middleton’s Coventry store

Having revealed to THIIS its intentions to focus on the North West or South Coast for the next phase of its store launch program, the company has recently been given planning permission to launch a new store in Swindon.

The company has been granted permission by Swindon Borough Council to convert a large space outside of the town centre at the Equity Trade Centre which had been used previously as a trade shop supplying tilers by Rhino Ceramics

The planning application said: “Middleton Mobility deals in a range of specialist items such as Rise and Recline chairs, adjustable beds and mobility scooters.

“Given the bulky nature of the goods Middletons sell and the characteristic of their clients (being generally elderly), they require a showroom location with dedicated car parking.”

So far, the company has launched four stores in 2019, with four more planned after securing a substantial, multi-million-pound investment. Ricky Towler, Co-founder of Middletons, confirmed the company’s ambitions to expand its shop portfolio to 24 by 2020.

It is preparing to launch its Brierley Hill mobility store soon, however, this latest move to the large town in Wiltshire would suggest the company is heading towards the busy south coast area.

THIIS highlighted how competitive the south coast is with the recent launch of The Mobility Shop’s retail outlet in Ferndown, Dorset. Within a 10mile-radius of Bournemouth, there are already five mobility retailers competing in the area.

If Middletons does continue to move South, it will be another significant player aiming to take market share in an already saturated market.
