Medequip continues its support of disability sports with new rugby league sponsorship deal
Community equipment service provider Medequip continues to support disability sports with the announcement of a shirt sponsorship deal for the England Community Lions PDRL (Physical Disability Rugby League) which will include a two-game series against Wales in 2024.
PDRL is a full contact version of the game, adapted for participants with a physical disability who want to access a running version of Rugby League. The England Lions PDRL squad is drawn from foundations linked to five Super League clubs: Castleford Tigers; Leeds Rhinos; Wakefield Trinity; Warrington Wolves and Wigan Warriors.
The sponsorship deal fits well with Medequip’s existing commitments in this arena. The company has an established track record of community engagement across the country and has sponsored Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation for the past three years, contributing to their extensive programme using the power of Rugby League and physical activity to inspire the community and create lasting legacies.
Marc Lovering, RFL Director of Participation and Development, says: “We at the RFL are thrilled to announce our new partnership with Medequip. Their commitment to empowering communities aligns perfectly with our values at the RFL, and we are delighted to have them as the main shirt sponsor of our England Community Lions PDRL this season.
“With Medequip’s support, we are excited to enhance our visibility and participation in Rugby League, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the sport. We look forward to proudly wearing their logo and working together to make a positive impact.”
Commenting for Medequip, Steve Smith, General Manager for the company’s North East Region, underlines the importance of Medequip’s community engagement programme.
“Our work is all about supporting people to keep them independent in their own homes by providing innovative solutions in health and social care. As part of our ‘Giving Something Back’ commitment, we are delighted to provide sponsorship for the England Lions PDRL squad, aiming to facilitate greater levels of equality in sport.”
In August 2024, Medequip reported that it had successfully supported over 100,000 discharges each year from NHS hospitals across the country.
