Love Mobility receives valuable grant to help relocate showroom as servicing demand swells
Wellington-based Love Mobility has been awarded £10,000 from Telford & Wrekin Council’s Pride in Our Community High Street Fund to help finance a store relocation.
Founded by husband and wife team Rob & Jan Wilcock a year and a half ago, Love Mobility runs two independent mobility shops in Wellington and Bishops Castle.
Having outgrown its Wellington premises, the company applied for the public funding to help finance a relocation to a larger store in the small Shropshire town.
The local council awarded the funding from its Empty Unit Incentive Grant in a bid to support local business and the high street, which is under increasing pressure as the retail landscape shifts.
According to Rob, the move to a larger store will enable the company to meet the growing demand for the servicing side of the business.
In addition, Love Mobility’s new showroom will also provide space behind the shop to create four, invaluable disabled parking bays for customers.
Rob Wilcock, Managing Director of Love Mobility, commented: “After two years on Tan Bank, we have listened to our customers’ feedback and have decided to move to a larger store location with its own parking at the rear.
“Wellington was our first store and when relocating it was important to stay local and loyal to the customers who have supported us. The support from the council will enable us to present a fresh new look and provide far better facilities to our customers. We look forward to welcoming you soon to the new Love Mobility store.”
The Love Mobility expansion will also lead to the creation of three new jobs, with the retailer expected to cut the ribbon to the new store in February 2020.
Cllr Lee Carter, Telford & Wrekin Council cabinet member for finance, commercial services and economic development, said: “A number of businesses in Wellington have already benefited from this grant and they are real assets to the town, filling previously empty properties. We all know about the pressures that high streets are facing, and we’re doing a number of things to support them which we plan to continue.
“There’s a lot happening in Wellington and the town is looking great. It will be nice to welcome Rob and Anil to the business community and I wish them both the very best in their new premises.”
