Sheridan Lifts, which is based in Manchester, has won a £1 million deal with local housing trust Wythenshawe Community Housing Group.

The contract will focus on upgrading lifts in high rise building to meet current safety and fire regulations – an issue which has become more prominent since the Grenfell tragedy in 2017.

Between this project and its ongoing maintenance contract with Manchester One, the company looks after around 2,000 sites, with a total of 380 sites in Greater Manchester. Many of the sites are specialist units, with equipment such as platform lifts, hoists, stairlifts and through-floor lifts.

Tony Sheridan, Managing Director of Sheridan Lifts, told Manchester Evening News: “Securing the £1m tender is particularly rewarding for all of us at Sheridan Lifts, and testament to the hard work and detailed planning that goes into each and every one of our projects.

“As a by-product, these kind of contracts attract the interest of multi-national companies which is great news for us here at Sheridan Lifts.

“It always puts a big smile on my face when I see our team rise to challenges like this and win these types of competitive tender.”

As part of its deal with Wythenshawe Community Housing Group, Sheridan lifts has also agreed a scheme to help get tenants back into full-time work.

The company conducts eight-week work placement programmes to help long-term unemployed people to return to work. The scheme boasts a 100 percent success rate of candidates securing permanent employment following the placement.

Tony added: “Continuity coupled with investment in our staff is and always will be the cornerstone of our business. Providing great opportunities across the business is another key aspect of working for Sheridan Lifts.

“Working closely with local communities, as we do, is extremely rewarding. Recently we have been able to provide employment for long term unemployed people through our contract with One Manchester.”

Sheridan Lifts provides lift maintenance, services, repairs and new lift installations across the country.
