Lifestyle and Mobility digital app

An innovative interactive digital display has got the thumbs-up from customers visiting the Lifestyle and Mobility showroom in Harlow.

Visitors can check out videos to see how mobility manufacturer Quantum Rehab builds and tests its powerchair chairs in the lab, check out different colour combinations and flick through the store’s brochures on an interactive touch pad.

“We wanted our customers to have something engaging they could do themselves whilst in our store,” explains Darren Macey, the store’s Business Development Manager who commissioned the interactive display.

Darren told THIIS: “The digital age is not going away. We wanted to be the first mobility company to bring technology into our stores.”

The bespoke app, he explains, was created on a Windows platform, which works in-conjunction with Windows tablets.

“I designed the layout and user experience myself and then had an app wiz bring it to life.”

The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Darren continues: “Customers love it. Sometimes customers just want to browse in store and don’t want to be approached by a sales advisor.

“We have now given customers the power to watch videos browse though brochures and compare specs. It’s also been a useful tool for staff too.”

Darren says that the store has plans to role out and build a few more supplier-specific touch pads in store.

“We are also working on a update to incorporate another feature on the pads where customers can email themselves a copy of a brochure.

“Not only will this save paper wastage it will also be a way of data capturing and tell us what products people want to engage with the most.”

Lifestyle and Mobility was founded in 2002 by Ron Sverdloff and is now managed by Managing Director Aaron Sverdloff. There are five stores in its portfolio, with four in the South East and one in Bournemouth.

The family-run retailer purchased Harlow Mobility in November 2020. As Darren later explained to THIIS, the store’s shopping centre location was ideal. The retailer added new product ranges and changed its name to the Lifestyle & Mobility brand prior to its re-launch this year.
