Lifestyle and Mobility retail store reopen covid

South East mobility retailer Lifestyle and Mobility has detailed the new measures it has put in place to maximise customer and staff safety, including new signage and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Prior to the UK going into full lockdown, Lifestyle and Mobility were among one of the earliest retailers to announce it was taking steps to try and prevent the spread of the virus in its stores at the start of March.

Once the lockdown came into full effect, the retailer – which recently acquired a former Hearing and Mobility branch in Bournemouth – took the decision to close its physical showrooms and instead operate an emergency call out service for its customers.

Instead, the mobility dealers continued to trade at the reduced level in a bid to provide assistance to its vulnerable customers throughout the duration of the lockdown at a cost to the company. According to the company’s Business Development Manager Darren Macey, the company believed it was the right thing to do.

Alongside helping local customers with maintenance such as battery replacements and repairing punctures, the company has also been providing vitally needed hospital beds to the NHS and Havens Hospice as the health and social care system rapidly ramped up capacity to handle the strain of growing cases.

Now the company has introduced a number of measures in line with the government guidance for reopening shops safely and has stated welcoming customers back to the store.

In particular, the retailer has introduced a Road Map One-Way System supported with accompanying signage on the floor to help users safely navigate the store, as well as set limits to the number of customers that can be in the store at a time.

Lifestyle and Mobility has also installed screens at the counters of its branches and has confirmed that all of its staff will wear full-face visors and gloves on assessments and deliveries whilst also following a strict cleaning and sanitisation regime.

The news comes as many mobility retailers prepare for the imminently expected announcement that the majority of shops will be allowed to reopen to the public from the 1st June onwards.
