Leonard Cheshire-run care home supporting disabled adults praised by Care Quality Commission

A Bristol care home supporting disabled adults with complex needs has been rated ‘Good’ in all areas by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Cossham Gardens in Kingswood is a residential home with nursing care run by disability charity Leonard Cheshire. The service supports up to 22 disabled adults, with a focus on helping residents maintain their independence and live fulfilling lives.
The CQC’s August 2026 inspection report praised the home’s person-centred approach and highlighted the role of staff in supporting residents to achieve positive outcomes.
Inspectors said: “Staff were committed to achieving positive outcomes for people and worked proactively to identify ways of enhancing their quality of life and independence.”
The report added that staff took time to understand people’s individual needs and goals, while residents spoke positively about the support they received.
One member of staff told inspectors: “We always look at how we can enhance people’s lives, through support, encouragement and trying to source new equipment.”
Inspectors also described staff as “consistently kind and caring” and noted that support was provided in a timely manner, with residents encouraged to take part in activities reflecting their individual interests and preferences.
Individual care plans were also found to be comprehensive and detailed, helping staff to provide support tailored to each resident.
Jenny Corbiere, service manager at Cossham Gardens, said: “This achievement reflects the dedication, compassion and professionalism of our wonderful team who consistently go above and beyond to provide high-quality support.
“We are delighted their hard work has been recognised and remain committed to helping our residents live fulfilling and independent lives.
“At a complex care service, our staff work tirelessly every day to build trusting relationships with the people we support. Creating a friendly, welcoming and inclusive environment is at the heart of everything we do.”
A specialist care and nursing home in County Durham has been praised by the CQC after achieving an ‘Outstanding’ rating for the way it cares for residents.
