Küschall aims to deliver unrivalled performance with new, lightweight wheelchair made from graphene
Using aerospace materials and working in partnership with a Formula 1 manufacturer, Invacare’s Küschall brand has set out to deliver the world’s lightest wheelchair called Superstar.
Made from graphene, Küschall says that the Superstar is 30 percent lighter and 20 percent stronger compared to carbon wheelchairs, making it a unique mobility aid. Using “cutting edge” technologies and with a frame weight of less than 1.5kg, the Superstar team are hoping to drive efficiency and innovation.
A bespoke solution, the Superstar aims to correct users’ posture and maximise their propelling performance. Features include: adaptable seating positions, an adjustable backrest and a fully integrated seat cushion, all of which have been designed for optimal posture and comfort.
The company added that the wheelchair has great power transfer through the entire frame, meaning it will respond rapidly with every movement. Additionally, the chair’s road dampening properties provide an “effortless” glide for individuals.
According to Küschall, its new chair offers the best weight to acceleration performance. It also reduces the risk of upper body extremities in the future because it’s tailor-made, so users are seated in the optimal position for them.
Founded in 1978, Küschall aims to improve the lives of wheelchair users by using materials and creating new innovations or concepts.
Invacare is a manufacturer and distributor of home and long-term care medical products which strive to promote recovery and active lifestyles.
