Ergo 3 from KarmaMobility solution manufacturer Karma Mobility has unveiled a new ergonomic wheelchair which reduces the effort needed to maintain an upright posture and enables the user to enjoy social interactions with more comfort.

Mark Duffield, General Manager for Karma Mobility, commented to THIIS: “We are delighted to be able to launch the Ergo 3, the culmination of intensive product development. It has several new innovative features including ergonomic back inserts for increased comfort and lockable attendant brakes.”

The innovative frame design helps to reduce the effort required to maintain an upright position which in turn leads to greater levels of user comfort. At the rear of the wheelchair backrest there are adjustable curved inserts which provide important lumbar back support that promote good posture and help to alleviate sitting discomfort.

Other features of the Ergo 3 wheelchair include attendant brakes on the push handles which allow the brakes to be locked without bending down to reach the wheel brake levers. The armrests flip back making it easier to transfer or to roll up to a desk or table. The detachable footrests also swing away to make room to transfer on or off the wheelchair.

On either side of the wheelchair seat the side guards help to prevent clothing making contact with the wheels. The side guards also have a useful storage pocket for small items such as keys or a mobile phone. Below the seat, the frame has a double cross brace which makes it both strong and rigid helping to keep the ride comfortable.

The Ergo 3 self-propelled wheelchair weighs in at 14.4kg (seat width dependent) making it very easy to handle, whether lifting it into a car boot or propelling yourself with the 24″ wheels. As well as being functional the Ergo 3 is also a smart modern looking wheelchair.

Earlier this year, Karma Mobility launched the Karma Flexx Adapt paediatric wheelchair at Naidex 2024.
