Jorvik Tricycles launches first ever mobility model for both on and off road cycling
European tricycle manufacturer Jorvik Tricycles has unveiled a three-in-one tricycle which aims to bridge the gap in the market between a standard tricycle and mobility scooter.
A first for the business, Jorvik Freedom is the result of more than a decade of work and feedback from both customers and stockists.
Jorvik’s new tricycle provides a cross between a recumbent tricycle, electric bike and a mobility scooter, combining power with stability and support. Boasting 16-inch tyres, two air springs, and a rear drive Bafang motor, Jorvik Freedom is a hybrid model for both on and off road cycling.
With more than a third of Brits reported to feel a social stigma attached to mobility scooters Jorvik Freedom provides those who require additional support with an alternative option, designed to enhance mobility while also offering a stylish way to travel.
Adding to its extensive range, the new model is priced at £4,499 and is disability VAT exempt. Available in black and green and including a 48-volt battery, the new model offers stability and freedom, allowing users who struggle with mobility to combat long journeys.
Jorvik Tricycles was first launched in 2014, and what started as a passion project fuelled by love became a business enterprise which now celebrates annual revenue of around £6 million 10 years later.
James Walker, Founder and Managing Director of Jorvik Tricycles, says: “Our new Jorvik Freedom model has been designed with our customer feedback in mind. Whilst the business has grown over the last ten years, so has our knowledge of the industry.
“We recognised a trend in the number of customers looking for more supportive options and particularly those who weren’t ready to forgo the style and ease of a tricycle for a mobility scooter.
“Unlike anything else on the market, Jorvik Freedom offers enhanced balance and stability due to its low centre of gravity, an ideal option for those looking for a bit more support. At Jorvik Tricycles, we support our customers in every stage of their mobility and are on a mission to continuously push boundaries to make cycling accessible for all.”
Jorvik Tricycles has also recently launched a bespoke tricycle de-restriction service to deliver enhanced user reliability and support. This will provide those who are less mobile with the throttle power to tackle inclines without physical over-exertion.
