Jenx looks to add new awards to trophy cabinet this December with double prize nomination
Sheffield-based Jenx has been shortlisted for two Sheffield Business Awards in recognition of its contribution to helping change the lives of thousands of children around the world.
Finalists in both the ‘SME of the Year’ and ‘Special Recognition’ categories, the family-owned manufacturer of specialised postural support equipment for children with disabilities will discover if it will walk away with the top prizes at the Sheffield Business Awards ceremony in December at Ponds Forge International Centre.
Founded in 1982 and originally operating the business from their home, the company was set up by Clive, a product designer and Catherine, a paediatric physiotherapist to create a wide range of paediatric postural support products.
An end-to-end UK manufacturer, from initial concept creation, design, engineering right through to distribution, Jenx exports its equipment around the world through an international network of distributors and in the UK through its dedicated distribution division, Jiraffe.

Organised by the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, the Sheffield Business Awards celebrate the best in business in the region, highlighting companies that have made a significant impact on the area’s economy and community.
Founders Clive and Catherine have used the platform they developed with Jenx to contribute to the community says the company, creating jobs for hundreds of Sheffield residents over the years, boasting an impressive apprentice and work experience programme, ongoing charity partnerships, and regularly working in schools to educate pupils and welcoming schools to tour their factory.
In August 2019, the company donated £2,500 worth of therapy equipment to Bluebell Wood Hospice, its nominated Charity of the Year 2019 providing precious palliative care and support to families who have a child or young person with a shortened life expectancy.
According to Jenx, 2019 has seen the manufacturer employ its 100th employee, with the company now looking ahead to “very ambitious growth plans.”
Holly added: “When Catherine and Clive set up the business in their home back in 1982 they had a very clear vision of helping to provide a better life and a brighter future for children with special needs. Almost forty years later this remains the driving force of everything Jenx do, ensuring the business is set to help many more young people for years to come.”
