Invacare team move for mobility Healthcare manufacturer Invacare has embarked on its second ‘Move For Mobility’ campaign in Europe and Asia Pacific, building on the success of last year’s campaign with its partner Free Wheelchair Mission.

Move For Mobility is a month-long fundraiser that encourages and inspires employees, their families, and the company’s partners to get moving while raising money and awareness for Free Wheelchair Mission.

Free Wheelchair Mission is a humanitarian non-profit organisation that provides wheelchairs at no cost to individuals with disabilities in remote communities worldwide. For every £76 raised, a wheelchair is gifted to someone in need.

Geoff Purtill, President and CEO of Invacare, commented: “In 2024, I had the privilege of personally delivering wheelchairs to the Dominican Republic.

“Seeing the impact up close was incredibly moving. This year, we’re aiming even higher — uniting employees, ambassadors, customers, and partners across the globe to help more people access something as basic, yet life-changing, as a wheelchair.”

Invacare has shared its technical skills and expertise to help with the research, design, and production of cost-effective wheelchairs for the non-profit organisation for over six years.

In 2024, 425 Invacare employees across regions raised more than $28,000 during the inaugural Move For Mobility, which funded the distribution of 294 wheelchairs and transformed the lives of many individuals in developing countries.

Throughout May, Invacare employees will again get moving – walking, running, cycling, horse riding, and more – to support the cause and help raise funds. Participation is open to everyone, and all are encouraged to contribute however they can.

Nuka Hart, Chief Executive of Free Wheelchair Mission, added: “Around 80 million people worldwide need a wheelchair, but most can’t afford one. Invacare’s support – especially their engineering and testing expertise- has elevated our chairs’ durability and effectiveness.

“Together, we’re not just donating wheelchairs; we’re delivering independence, dignity, and hope.”

Invacare recently announced the launch of a new ceiling hoist which is designed to meet the evolving needs of nursing and home care environments while bringing comfort and dignity to patients.
