BHTA Essential Insurance package launched for BHTA retail members

The British Healthcare Trades Association (BHTA), in collaboration with its preferred insurance partner ICB Group, has launched a new fixed-rate insurance package available exclusively to its retail members.

Designed to meet the needs of smaller mobility retailers facing an increasingly competitive market, the new tailored package aims to significantly reduce the cost of insurance by only covering essential elements relevant to retailers in the industry and stripping out unnecessary & costly extras.

Discussing the motivation behind the new mobility retailer insurance package, David Widdick, Director of Business Development for ICB Group, explained that the sector insurance specialists saw a potential gap in the products currently being offered to smaller mobility retailers.

“ICB’s research identified that there was not a product on the market priced competitively that offered retailers essential cover for property damage, including stock; business interruption; as well as employers, public and product liability,” he commented.

“We identified that a more specialist insurance package is required for smaller retailers that need a competitive policy providing truly essential cover that also does not charge for additional insurance elements that many retailers do not need.”

Starting from £224, the new fixed-rate insurance package from the trade association includes cover for material damage; business Interruption; and employers, public and products liability, with retailers having the option to include or forego employer liability cover.

Karim Uddin, Business Development Manager for BHTA, added: “It is important that we continuously look for benefits for our members and it was clear there was a gap in the insurance market to assist our smaller retail businesses. Working closely with ICB, we now have a product in Retail Essentials to meet this specific need.”

Founded in 1917, the BHTA is one of the UK’s largest healthcare associations, representing close to 500 healthcare and mobility companies that commit to providing high levels of customer care that go above and beyond their legal obligations via the BHTA’s Code of Practice.

For smaller retailers that may not currently be a BHTA member but would like to find out more, the Association advises contacting Karim Uddin on 020 7702 2141 or email Karim.Uddin@bhta.com
