Innova Care Concept and Permobil are teaming up to deliver a new webinar on effective powerchair provision for healthcare professionals, providing evidence-based insights to help their clients reach their goals.

The one-hour session, titled ‘Reaching client goals with power wheelchairs’, will be delivered by Ramsey Hulbert, Innova’s powerchair expert boasting over 15 years’ experience in the field.

Taking place at 3pm on 17 September, the webinar will cover the clinical and functional benefits that power wheelchairs can facilitate, with a specific focus on the evidence supporting the use of different powerchair functions.

“I’ve worked on posture management and wheelchair specifications for over 15 years. Power wheelchairs are great because there are so many ways you can customise them to suit individual users,” commented Hulbert.

“Combining different components and functions lets you adapt the chair to help clients reach their goals. You can continually make changes as their needs change. Newer innovations, like standing functions, have taken what you can achieve for mobility status, participation, and quality of life to the next level. I’m looking forward to sharing some of our clients’ experiences.”

In particular, the company confirmed that the session will focus on the benefits of power seat and standing functions, with three key learning outcomes:

  • Understanding the different power seat functions and the potential outcomes they can facilitate for clients
  • Explore the functional and clinical benefits of using standing function
  • Understand the real-world experiences of power wheelchair users through client interviews

The webinar will be supported by powerchair supplier Permobil and Arne Compernolle, Clinical & Training Manager for Permobil EMEA.

“Evidence-based motivation has always been essential,” commented Arne.

“For clinicians, it’s the critical argument when justifying reimbursement and/or other funding resources. In order to provide users with products aligned to their needs and potential, you must have evidence.

“That’s my personal inspiration for providing evidence-based education to my peer clinicians and assistive technology providers.”

An open Q&A session will conclude the session.

In addition, Innova will distribute a webinar recording and handout to all registered attendees – including those unable to attend the live session.

The new powerchair-focused webinar follows the successful launch of InnovaLive – a free online training service – back in May by the Yorkshire-based equipment provider specialising in the case management sector.

Having enjoyed significant growth over recent years and diversifying into homelifts, Innvoa supplies a wide range of equipment and services for clinical negligence and personal injury clients, including power wheelchairs, hoist systems, profiling beds, pressure care mattresses, and bathroom adaptations.
