Terry Lifts has reported that export sales to its Australian distributor, P.R. King & Sons, rose during 2020, up by almost 37 per cent on 2018.

According to the Cheshire-based homelift supplier, in a year thwarted by restrictions, shipping delays and lockdowns, P.R. King & Sons ordered a substantial number of home, platform, step and portable lifts.   Its Lifestyle Home Lift was also installed in a new showroom in Sydney earlier in the year.

P.R. King & Sons is one of Terry’s largest single customers and has been its sole agent in Australia for almost 40 years. The family business employs around 40 people across four locations in Sydney, Perth, Melbourne and the Gold Coast, and boasts almost 100 years’ experience in the lift and engineering industry.

Oliver King, Director of P.R. King & Sons, says that his company has been a dedicated Australian distributor of the Terry products since 1983 and that it has around 1,000 products installed around Australia, most of which are still in service.

“Sales have remained strong during the global pandemic with consistent stock levels being kept of the platform lift products. We are now seeing even stronger demand for the Terry products and we hope that continues in 2021.

“We are particularly pleased with the installation of the Lifestyle lift and hope that it will drive interest and increased sales.”

Amongst King’s portfolio of Terry Lifts products is the TSL 1000W, says Oliver, which is a step lift developed specially for the Australian distributor.

Based on the TSL 1000, the 1000W features an extra wide platform, 1100mm x 1400mm and a large capacity of 385kg, making it ideal for accommodating heavy electric wheelchairs and their users.

Speaking of Terry’s enduring relationship with P.R. King & Sons, Steve Hill, Sales Manager for Terry Lifts, said: “We value all our distributors and agents and P.R. King & Sons is proof of how successful a true partnership can be.

“In working together to generate sales and growth opportunities, and in the development of products specific to their marketplace, we have created a fruitful and mutually beneficial alliance.”

Over the past year, Terry Lifts has reported strong overseas sales, not only from the Australian market, but from the Italian, French and South Korean markets as well.

International sales, it says, helped to drive the lift the manufacturer’s recovery after it was forced to stop manufacturing lifts for a few weeks at the peak of the pandemic last year.
