Herida adds surgical gowns to offering as it joins forces with NHS to create PPE managed service
With demand for personal protective equipment (PPE) remaining high, Herida Healthcare and North Tees & Hartlepool Solutions (NTH Solutions) have partnered to develop a high-quality sterilised gown with a fully managed national service for the NHS.
Best-known for manufacturing pressure care mattresses and slings from its West Yorkshire production site, Herida has now added surgical gowns to its offering in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Putting its skilled workforce and manufacturing capabilities to work to meet the ongoing need for PPE, the Leeds company can now produce 80,000 of the high-grade gowns per week.
With the gowns capable of being reused up to 50 times, the partnership sees NTH Solutions, a subsidiary of North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust, handle decontamination, sterilisation and redistribution of the valuable PPE back to the Trust.

According to Herida, the two organisations will continue to work closely together in order to fill what it described as “the void for PPE shortages that healthcare organisations across the country have suffered in the last months.”
At the height of the pandemic and start of lockdown, Herida Healthcare quickly scaled up its production of air-pump mattresses to supply the ExCel Nightingale hospital, working around the clock to complete its initial order.
