When a sailing club in Pwllheli, Wales needed help transforming their clubhouse for a children’s charity, stairlift supplier Handicare helped to save the day.

The club were being helped by popular TV show Prosiect Pum Mil for S4C, the Welsh TV channel, renovating their club house into a state-of-the-art space for children with disabilities to spend time at weekends.

The crew had big plans for the project, including three upstairs playrooms – but they’d only be able to go ahead if the Garaventa Lift platform wheelchair lift in the building was in full working order.

The lift had been there for years, and nobody could remember it working since it was installed in 1997. But, thanks to Handicare’s partnership with sister company Garaventa Lift through its ‘Sell Serve Support’ project, the Handicare team were fully trained to work on Garaventa Lift systems.

So UK Technical Support Manager George Court set off to North Wales from Kingswinford, where the company is based, and was able to get the lift up and running again.Handicare plaform lift

“When I got in touch with Handicare they were extremely helpful from the outset,” said producer of the show Nia Parry.

“George travelled the long distance to North Wales to have a look at the lift. In no time at all he got it up and running and we jumped for joy.

“Without doubt Handicare’s generosity will have a positive and far-reaching impact on lots of children and their families and we’re extremely grateful for all your help.”

Handicare also recommended that the lift was regularly serviced by a member of its trusted network of trade partners, to make sure it stays in good working order for years to come.

The Sell Serve Support project has been the latest initiative in Handicare’s integration with Savaria since its acquisition by the corporation in 2021.

The initiative gives its trade partners the opportunity to buy stairlifts and platform lifts all from the Handicare team, with the same simple process that it uses for stairlifts.
