Handicare Matt RobertsStairlift provider Handicare has announced a key appointment in its UK leadership team to strengthen its critical relationships in the public and third sector.

Against a backdrop of adult social care facing a huge post-pandemic challenge and continued pressure on local authority budgets, Handicare’s new UK Strategic Partnerships Director Matt Roberts brings a wealth of experience and insight to boost its social value strategy.

Joining from Age UK’s trading arm Age Co, Matt will continue to strengthen Handicare’s relationships with government clients, and develop a social value policy to support local communities.

Handicare has successfully won and retained contracts with over 100 local authorities in the UK to supply, fit and maintain stairlifts for over 24,000 end users. Its work supporting local communities is at the heart of its business.

Activities include organising dance lessons in Gateshead care homes, sponsoring local sports teams, and redirecting packaging waste to schools in Birmingham to be recycled as craft materials.

Welcoming the opportunity to manage Handicare’s relationships with local authority clients, Matt commented: “I’m thrilled to be joining Handicare, and look forward to working with our teams to enhance and improve the services we provide to partners and older people in our communities, as well as strengthening our already highly valued partnerships.

“I’ll bring a wide breadth of knowledge and experience in providing products and services that help older people stay safe and independent at home. I look forward to working with trusted partners to build relationships that deliver a dependable service and high-quality products to our users.”

The Strategic Partnerships Director role will also represent Handicare as a member of the British Healthcare Trade Association and the Lift and Escalator Industry Association, ensuring that Handicare is contributing its expertise and shaping the future of the industry.

Matt will maintain Handicare’s successful partnership with Age UK, as well as scoping out new partnership opportunities to widen the company’s reach, offering its transformative accessibility products to even more people who need them.

Handicare VP Commercial Clare Brophy said of the appointment: “I am delighted to welcome Matt to the Handicare family. He has been hugely successful in building a great relationship with the team in his previous role at Age UK, and I am excited about the knowledge, energy, and passion he will bring to our business.”
