Handicare announces new sales appointments as it eyes up further collaboration and growth

Accessibility manufacturer Handicare has announced the appointment of Jason Skelding as UK Trade Sales Director following his 10-year tenure with the company.
The UK sales team has also been bolstered with the appointment of David Downing as Business Development Manager for the Midlands and Wales and Gavin Baxter as Business Development Manager for London and the South of England.
Previously Handicare Business Development Director, Jason nurtured trade partnerships and managed business growth within the UK and Ireland for Handicare’s portfolio of products, which include stairlifts, platform lifts and through-floor lifts.
He has over 25 years’ experience in the accessibility sector alone and started his career in quality engineering and management.
David Downing has over 10 years’ experience working across multiple industries, including manufacturing, contracting, motor finance, and healthcare, while Gavin Baxter has over 12 years’ experience in the accessibility industry, covering a range of products unique to Handicare’s market.
On his new appointment, Jason said: “I’ve had the luxury of working with our trade partners for a while now but the opportunities for collaboration and growth are huge this year as we broaden our product portfolio and continue to invest in quality.
“We have potential new partnerships on the horizon too but whether a new or existing partner, the team and I will measure our success on the longevity of our relationships.”
David Harrison, EU/RoW Commercial Director for Handicare, said: “The new appointments significantly strengthen our UK sales team.
“David and Gavin join Lyndsey Jackson-Smith and Andrew Allen as Business Development Managers for UK North West, Scotland & Ireland, and Central & East Anglia respectively, and, with Jason’s oversight and ability to identify opportunities for growth with trade partners, I have every confidence this year will be one of mutual benefit.”
Handicare is a global provider of straight, curved and outdoor stairlifts and has been providing mobility solutions since 1886. It was acquired by Savaria Corporation in 2021, following Savaria’s acquisition of Garaventa Lift, which provides custom-made platform lifts for mobility and accessibility in homes and public locations, in 2018.
