In a move to further strengthen and coordinate international activities, the new roles will continue to develop the world-class business for its people, partners, and customers.

Previously on the management team driving the success of Handicare’s UK direct-selling division before leaving to take up an international marketing role, David Harrison now returns as Global Customer Experience Director.

Helen Kitchen moves from a consultancy role to Global Brand, Communications and PR Director, and Emma McAuley joins as Global HR Director.

These expert leaders, state the manufacturer, will align worldwide operations and ensure Handicare continues to deliver for its people, as well as the direct customers, local authorities, and trade partners it serves.

Handicare supplies stairlifts and other accessibility equipment internationally from four manufacturing sites and eight commercial offices worldwide, including UK locations in the Midlands and West Yorkshire.

The manufacturer has positioned itself firmly as one of the leading players in the global stairlift industry and, earlier this year, became part of the Canadian headquartered Savaria Corporation to create a global leader in accessibility solutions.

Commenting on the appointments, Vice President for Commercial Clare Brophy said: “It’s thanks to our world-class products and services that we’ve grown to become market leader in our industry sector.

“I’m thrilled about the potential of these appointments to open up new avenues of growth, both for Handicare and for our trade partners around the world.”

David Harrison previously spent 16 years helping to develop Handicare UK’s direct sales division Companion and returned to the company earlier this year to oversee customer experience.

He will strengthen global customer service operations and ensure a focus on exceptional customer experience is at the heart of everything Handicare does.

Having worked with the group in a PR consultancy position since 2016, Helen Kitchen is appointed to the role of Global Brand, Communications and PR Director following a decision to de-centralise and outsource the marketing function.

She will manage a team of country marketeers and coordinate partnerships with creative and digital agencies to collaborate on boosting Handicare’s international brand recognition and comms strategy.

Emma McAuley joined the group as Global HR Director at the start of this year. With over 20 years of talent, engagement, and development experience, she brings expertise in HR for logistics organisations and working with large, field-based teams.

Emma is based at Handicare’s Kingswinford manufacturing site office, while David and Helen join the team at its Yorkshire-based commercial headquarters in Leeds.
