Gerald Simonds unveils second generation of popular folding wheelchair to add to its portfolio
Mobility equipment supplier Gerald Simonds has announced the launch of a re-designed version of the popular Veloce folding wheelchair, which is manufactured by Canada-based Motion Composites.
The most significant change to the latest model is the addition of the award-winning carbon fibre frame design, which is also found in the Apex Carbon wheelchair, and enables the Veloce to perform like a rigid wheelchair yet have the flexibility of a folding frame.
With a transport weight of 5.4 kg, the carbon fibre frame provides durability, strength, fatigue resistance and extreme temperature tolerance. It also has a maximum user weight of nearly 18 stone and width and depth dimensions of 35.6cm to 50.8cm.
In addition, the Veloce enables users to easily adjust the front and rear seat to floor heights, seat bucket and centre of gravity, whilst the hinged one-piece footrest means that the frame can be easily folded for transportation or storage.
Emily Tomson, Marketing Manager at Gerald Simonds, said: “We are delighted to announce this latest addition to our portfolio of lightweight manual wheelchairs.
“The original Veloce has been a very popular model and this latest innovation by the design team at Motion Composites will benefit our customers who are looking for a wheelchair to suit their active lifestyle.”
Established in 1983, Gerald Simonds Healthcare is a supplier of lightweight manual, powered and standing wheelchairs, powerdrives, seating and pressure care products.
