Frontier Medical Group receives King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade

Medical technology firm Frontier Medical Group has been officially presented with the King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade.
The global pressure area care specialist received the award during a ceremony attended by His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant Brigadier Robert Aitken CBE on 27 May.
The King’s Award for Enterprise is regarded as one of the UK’s most prestigious business accolades, recognising outstanding achievement among UK organisations. Frontier Medical Group was one of 197 organisations across the UK to receive the award this year.
The company was recognised for its international growth over the past three years, during which its overseas revenue increased by 70 per cent and overall turnover rose by 30 per cent.
Frontier Medical Group supplies pressure area care medical technology to 34 countries, including the USA, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Germany, the Benelux region and the UK.
Established in 1966, the company has continued to invest in its portfolio of medical technology patents and is known for pressure area care product ranges including Repose and Toto.
David Caldwell, Chief Commercial Officer at Frontier Medical Group, said: “Receiving the King’s Award for Enterprise is the highest honour for the business, and we’re delighted to receive this recognition for the company’s success in innovative, sustainable, clinically-focused medical design.
“For us, working with international markets allows us to collaborate on a global scale and learn from best-in-class practitioners. Our pressure area care innovations are based on collaborations with, and real-world learnings from, healthcare settings across the globe, enhancing our evidence base to create clinically-proven solutions.
“This shapes innovative care delivery and improves quality of life for patients internationally. It’s wonderful to gain recognition for Frontier’s success from the highest office.”
His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant Brigadier Robert Aitken CBE said: “I am immensely proud to present Frontier Medical Group with the King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade for 2025.
“The award reflects the leading medical technology company’s commitment to sustainable growth, taking their innovative products to healthcare settings across the world.
“Frontier Medical Group is a shining example of the benefits to be had through reinvesting in technology enhancements, bringing life-changing products to the international market. The team truly represents what the King’s Awards stands for: encouraging SMEs and scaling British businesses to thrive, grow, and succeed.”
Built on more than two decades of research and development, Frontier Medical Group’s solutions are used internationally to support pressure ulcer prevention and treatment, automated patient repositioning, and at-home comfort care through its consumer brand Enora.
The company’s Repose range has supported the care of more than three million patients worldwide, helping healthcare providers deliver pressure ulcer prevention across hospitals, care homes and community settings.
Frontier Medical Group’s innovation also includes the Toto Cradle, a recent addition to the Toto Automated Patient Repositioning Platform.
Developed in collaboration with frontline healthcare professionals, the Toto Cradle was designed to help reduce patient migration during automated lateral turning. The company states that the product aims to improve comfort and clinical outcomes for immobile patients, while reducing the manual repositioning requirements placed on NHS staff.
