Clare Brophy, CEO of TKE Home Solutions

Speaking exclusively to THIIS Magazine for the first time since her appointment as CEO of TKE Home Solutions, established leader Clare Brophy shares her thoughts on the industry and her vision for driving the next wave of transformation at the home mobility division of powerhouse TK Elevator.

The accessibility and mobility sector has changed dramatically over the course of my career. When I started out, much of the market still felt niche and product-led. The conversation was usually about the equipment itself. Today, it’s about the whole experience around it — how people age in place, how we support independence, and how we make mobility solutions feel less clinical and more part of everyday life. That shift has been driven by ageing populations, better product design, and customers who expect more from us as an industry.

What has not changed is the importance of trust. Trade partners want products they can stand behind, service they can rely on, and a manufacturer who understands the realities of the customer journey. What has changed is the level of expectation. Partners now need faster response, clearer information, stronger training, better aftercare, and solutions that are easier to specify and install. The best manufacturers are the ones that understand the realities of the market and back their dealer network with products and support that stand up in practice.

Here in the UK, the opportunity is significant. We have an ageing population, pressure on housing and care, and a strong national conversation about helping people stay independent for longer. That creates real demand for lift equipment in both retrofit and new-build environments. It also means the sector has to keep pushing on design, affordability and accessibility, because customers are more informed and less willing to accept products that feel institutional or compromise the look and feel of the home or public space.

That’s exactly where TKE Home Solutions sees its role. We already have a genuinely strong foundation: a premium portfolio, award-winning designs, and products that are super easy to install and widely appreciated by users because they look stylish rather than medical. The product set is sector-leading. The next phase is about making sure the rest of the experience matches it.

For me, that means building a business that is not only admired for its products but valued for the way it supports dealers and end users. It means clearer processes, stronger responsiveness, better training, and more consistent aftercare. It means strengthening the proposition for our dealer network and raising standards across the full customer journey. That is how we turn a strong product base into a stronger overall offer.

I believe the next 10 to 20 years will be defined by collaboration. No single business can solve this alone. Manufacturers, dealers, housing providers, occupational therapists, and care professionals all have a part to play. The companies that succeed will be those that combine strong engineering with strong partnerships and a genuine understanding of end-user needs.

There’s also a bigger purpose here. If we get this right, lift equipment does far more than improve access. It supports dignity, reduces pressure on services, and helps people stay connected to the places and people that matter to them. That’s a fantastic outcome for families, for trade partners, and for society.

At TKE Home Solutions that’s the ambition: to build on a strong product base and create a customer proposition that’s just as impressive in service and support as it is in design and installation. For dealers, that creates a real opportunity to partner with a business that has the right products, the right foundations and the right mindset to grow. And for us, it is the chance to help shape a more accessible future in a way that benefits everyone involved.
