Graham Collyer, Executive Chairman of Sumed International (UK), has said that the trade-exclusive show will offer a great opportunity to chat with the trade about what they need and how it can help them, with the company on stand 5.

Sumed are manufacturers, suppliers and distributors of a range of medical equipment and supplies, with a particular focus on providing solutions to the pain and discomfort caused by pressure ulcers, such as beds, mattresses, cushions and wheelchairs.

The firm also provides servicing and maintenance to a range of medical supplies such as hoists, and most recently won a contract to service and repair equipment for Cumbria County Council.

Delivered in partnership with the British Healthcare Trades Association, THIIS Magazine and Promoting Independence, and sponsored by Motion Healthcare, BHTS aims to reconnect retailers with leading manufacturers in the mobility and access sectors in a relaxed, COVID-secure space. The event takes place on 15th June 2021 at the Weetwood Hall Estate in Leeds.

THIIS caught up with Graham Collyer to find out more about why Sumed has decided to back the B2B show and why visitors should come to see the medical equipment supplier at the event.

Why has Sumed International (UK) chosen to support the industry by exhibiting at BHTS?

It is a new exhibition for all in the north of England and a chance to successfully show of our new and exciting product range. We also want to show our products off to the trade and hopefully pick up some loyal customers at the show. Our sole focus is to be able to talk to people in the trade to give them a better understanding of our products. We are also looking for new distributors for our products.

What are you most looking forward to at BHTS?

At Sumed, we are looking forward to demonstrating our products and meeting new potential trade customers. We have recently added a new cushion range to our ever-growing product range and we feel that this product can benefit not only the NHS and social care but also as a self-purchase option. BHTS also offers a good chance for us to get out and be able to reconnect with people that we haven’t seen for a while due to the pandemic and to chat with the trade about what they need and how we can help them achieve their goals.

Why should people come and see you at the show?

We have some exciting new products that are priced to be of interest through channels into the NHS and social care but also through direct purchase. We have experienced professionals on the stand that will be able to discuss in depth a lot of different areas and be able to clear up any issues or problems you may need resolving. We are very easy to talk to and just a nice general chat would be good for us to be able to understand your needs. We are looking to appoint dealers on an exclusive basis for defined areas.

Why do you think a trade-exclusive event for the industry is important?

There has never really been a successful trade only event and one based in the north of England so BHTS would be a perfect opportunity to test whether regional events will work. Manufacturers rarely get an opportunity to speak to the trade and therefore only the big players have a presence in the retail sector. Understanding local needs is a key objective for us.
