Sharon Rindsland & James Smith at Recognising Quality Solutions

Independent moving and handling consultancy Recognising Quality Solutions (RQS) will be explaining to suppliers how they can boost their credibility within the health and social care sectors with professional product evaluations at the upcoming RISE @ THIIS Conference.

Suppliers spend a lot of money every year tendering for business within the NHS and healthcare sectors. They spend hours setting up and trialling the equipment, which is often unsuccessful.

RQS gives suppliers a standard evaluation process through expert clinical knowledge and understanding.

The presentation – ‘Putting your products to test with recognising quality solutions: How an efficient product evaluation can help enhance your company’s credibility within health and social care’ – will be delivered by Moving and Handling Senior Co-ordinator of East Kent Hospital University Foundation Trust and RQS Director Sharon Rindsland, and James Smith, Senior Moving & Handling Advisor NHS & Co-Founder of RQS.

It will take place at 12.30pm on 10 May 2022 at the Doubletree at Hilton, MK Stadium, Milton Keynes as part of the exciting trade-exclusive RISE @ THIIS Conference programme.

Sharon and James will talk about how the consultancy works with suppliers to evaluate moving and handling equipment, which could save time on setting up and trialling devices by providing a full risk assessment and evaluation service. This results in a template to work with to either use as the final document or to use as a starting point.

The 45-minute conference is aimed at moving and handling suppliers looking to gain credibility in introducing products to the healthcare supply chain.

RQS ensures standard equipment risk and specialist risk assessments are carried out; equipment meets every specification for purchase; and safe systems of working on current products, which helps all manual handling customers to use the company’s products.

The company also offers regulatory documentation that meets NHS and healthcare needs, along with HSE and CQC compliance; a full assessment on the equipment with a 20-page report for their customers; and works with the supply chain to ensure compliance with equipment.

Sharon has 20 years of experience in manual handling, working across Kent. Having worked in three acute trusts in the last 20 years, Sharon’s current role involves assisting her trust on how to implement moving and handling policy, and advising on strategies to meet specific trust and departmental needs. More recently, she became one of the co-founders and the director of RQS.

James has been advising in moving and handling for over 22 years, also having worked across many areas of Kent. Previously, James has held a number of posts within the NHS, including senior positions in two acute trusts in the last 12 years, as well as specialist charities and healthcare organisations. James’ current advisory role involves assisting his trust, at a strategic and operational level, on how to implement moving and handling policy, advising on strategies to meet specific Trust and departmental needs.
