Exclusive distribution expansion for Yorkshire mobility retailer after considerable success with NHS Trusts
After seeing considerable success with major contract wins for its Raizer emergency lifting chair, Yorkshire Care Equipment has partnered the products Danish manufacturer LiftUp to expand the retailer’s exclusive distribution area.
Originally launched three years ago, the Raizer has grown in popularity across the healthcare sector as organisations look to new technology to help reduce costs and ease pressure on services relating to falls.
Falls are now one of the biggest and most costly problems facing the healthcare system, costing the NHS an estimated £2.3 billion every year, according to the College of Optometrists/British Geriatrics Society.
Slightly different from other falls lifting products in the market, the Raizer is assembled around a fallen individual and lifts them back to either a seated or standing position within a couple of minutes. Importantly, the device can be operated by just a single individual.
The decision to expand the retailer’s distribution area was made last month at a global dealer seminar at LiftUp’s headquarters and factory in northern Denmark.
Having been supplying the product since 2016, the announcement comes following an uptake of the device by various emergency service teams across the North of England and Scotland, with Yorkshire Care Equipment supplying over 50 Raizers by June 2018.
George Hulbert, Yorkshire Care’s Sales Manager, said: “We’ve seen an incredible uptake in Raizer sales over the past couple of years, and that’s because it’s a truly unique piece of equipment.
“The Raizer prevents unnecessary ambulance and call-outs and needless hospital stays, which is vital to save money in the NHS. We’re excited to get going in our new distribution area and see how this device could help other NHS trusts across the country.”
Now one of only two Raizer suppliers in the UK, the expansion will see Yorkshire Care increase its exclusive distribution coverage of the device as far down as Warwickshire and parts of Birmingham.
Tristan Hulbert, Managing Director of Yorkshire Care, said: “It’s a great accomplishment for us to be working so closely with a Danish company when the perils of Brexit seem to be dominating the news.
“Falls in the UK is a huge issue, so to be supplying a product that could help relieve pressure on the healthcare service and other healthcare professionals is a huge thing for us. We very much look forward to working with new clients in our area.”
