Multi-branch mobility retailer Easy Living Mobility has granted its staff an additional day off work following the news that England has secured a place in the Euro 2020 finals against Italy this coming Sunday.

Following last night’s England semi-finals win against Denmark the retailer confirmed that it is closing the business for the day next Monday, and all 36 members of staff have been granted the day off, regardless of whether they are football fans or not.

Daniel Griffiths, Director at Easy Living Mobility said that it is his way of not only celebrating the hope for the nation, but thanking his staff for all their hard work and dedication to the business over the last year and a half during the coronavirus pandemic.

Daniel said: “We feel that finally the nation has hope after 18 months of tested faith, and we would like all staff to celebrate with the nation and have something to look forward to.“

The store has confirmed that an emergency team will still be available on that day for any of its customers should they require.

Well-established in the competitive West Midlands arena with 12 stores, the 20-year-old company had been expanding quickly ahead of the lockdown, launching two new group-owned stores and its franchise scheme in 2019.

Following the outbreak of the coronavirus and subsequent government retail closure, Easy Living Mobility had to close its stores and furlough two thirds of its staff.  It was then able to secure a loan through the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS).

The funding through the CBILS proved vital for enabling the company to continue to respond to urgent queries from customers, alongside capital to pay mobility suppliers and meet its fixed overheads, including staff costs.

After reopening its stores following the end of the government retail lockdown in the summer of last year, the retailer is now on the road to recovery, like many in the sector, as consumer confidence gradually returns.
