The move will consolidate and strengthen United Care’s and OpeMed’s operations, according to the company, leading to improved efficiencies in purchasing and sourcing activities; cost savings from combined purchasing and best pricing with suppliers; efficiencies gained through joint marketing, systems integration and product development; as well as global distribution, leading to significant cross-selling opportunities, especially in Europe.

Jan Stevenson, Managing Director of United Care, commented: “We are delighted to have purchased the remaining shares in OpeMed and look forward to working with the existing team in implementing our systems and processes to allow United Care and OpeMed to grow even further as the leading player in patient transfer both in the UK and internationally.”

In addition to the improved efficiencies and greater buying power, the acquisition will provide United Care with a UK, European and global platform from which to grow a global brand, with the company planning sales offices and warehousing in the UK, as well as focusing efforts in niche growth areas.

Nick Kent, Managing Director of OpeMed, finished: “This is an exciting deal that allows OpeMed to grow to the next level. OpeMed started 10 years ago and fast became the leading player in its field, selling direct in the UK and through leading dealers worldwide, pioneering innovation in transfer products, software and support to the next level.

“This exciting investment will allow OpeMed to grow from strength to strength in the next stage in its development and the team, including myself, are pleased to be playing a key part in the growth for years to come.”
