Drive Medical launches Beacon mobility scooter for comfortable outdoor journeys
Mobility and healthcare equipment supplier Drive Medical has launched the new Beacon mobility scooter, combining an extensive travelling range with all-round suspension, adjustable seating and features designed to support comfortable outdoor journeys.
Now available, the Beacon is an 8mph mobility scooter developed to offer a balance of performance, comfort and safety for both everyday use and longer trips.
The new model offers a travelling range of up to 30 miles (48.3km), alongside a 24V 800W motor and 12V 75Ah batteries. It has a maximum user weight capacity of 160kg (25 stone).
Designed with outdoor use in mind, the scooter incorporates all-round shock absorbers and large 14-inch pneumatic tyres to help provide a smooth and stable ride across varied terrain. Ground clearance is 10cm, while the scooter is capable of tackling a maximum gradient of eight degrees.
Comfort and adjustability are also key elements of the Beacon’s design. The rotating seat includes sliding and reclining adjustment, enabling users to alter their seating position, while an easy-to-use control system is complemented by a one-touch hydraulic tiller adjustment.
Drive Medical says the combination is intended to give users greater confidence and independence when travelling, whether making local journeys or spending longer periods away from home.
The Beacon measures 143cm long and 68cm wide and has a turning radius of 134cm. It weighs 120kg and is currently available in Zinc and Cobalt colour options.
The scooter also includes practical storage and a range of integrated safety features intended to support users while travelling. Its combination of an 8mph top speed, up to 30 miles of range, all-round suspension and substantial pneumatic tyres makes it suited to both local journeys and longer outdoor trips.
The Beacon is supplied with a five-year frame warranty, a two-year warranty covering components and a one-year battery warranty.
Drive Medical has appointed a new Head of Pressure Area Care, bringing more than 30 years of experience in marketing and product management to the role.
