DLF Trusted Assessor Training Course

As the telecare and the technology-enabled care (TEC) market continues to flourish, the Disabled Living Foundation (DLF) has announced two new options to enable assessors of telecare equipment to have a recognised qualification.

A leading source of impartial information relating to daily living aids, the Disabled Living Foundation operates a wide range of services including an extensive training programme for professionals in the mobility and independent living industry.

In particular, the national charity delivers its ‘Trusted Assessor’ training suite, enabling those involved in the provision of equipment, such as professionals in the mobility retail sector, to make informed simple assessments and provide minor adaptations at the point of need without the need for a referral to an OT.

According to the DLF, the new telecare Trusted Assessor courses is in response to increasing numbers of service providers becoming active in the telecare arena.

The new two-day Level 3 accredited course ‘Trusted Assessor – Assessing for Telecare Solutions’ is available to book and will be held at venues across the UK, confirmed the charity.

Alternatively, the DLF is also offering a one-day CPD-accredited ‘Competency in Telecare Assessment’ course, aimed at learners who already have a previous Trusted Assessor qualification or prefer a one-day option.

The courses come following a flurry of activity in the telecare sector, with Alcuris securing a new partnership to introduce its telecare range in Ireland, telecare giant Doro acquiring Centra Pulse & Connect to expand its market share, as well as Medequip’s purchase of County Careline Services and launch of Medequip Connect.

According to Doro’s President and CEO Carl-Johan Zetterberg Boudrie, the telecare rush is fuelled by the transition from analogue to digital in the fragmented UK market, which is one of the largest telecare markets in Europe.
