Direct Healthcare GroupMedical device manufacturer DHG has completed the acquisition of Sumed International (Sumed), further strengthening its UK post-acute pressure ulcer prevention and rental and service operations with a strong heritage brand.

Beginning trading in 1987, and under previous ownership since 2006, Sumed has a well-established reputation as a manufacturer and service provider of pressure ulcer prevention surfaces, accessories and wheelchairs, driven by a dedicated team and backed by high-quality solutions.

DHG’s acquisition of Sumed further expands its comprehensive pressure ulcer prevention portfolio, widening access to Sumed’s Integrity surfaces and Wheelchair range, whilst offering existing Sumed customers an increased offering of solutions to treat and manage pressure ulcers, as well as a complete Safe Moving & Handling portfolio. Service delivery is also expanded, providing customers of both Sumed and DHG with true nationwide coverage through 10 Rental and Service facilities and 135 technicians.

The combination of DHG and Sumed’s expertise in manufacturing pressure ulcer prevention solutions will ensure that its customers will continue to be provided with high quality, cost-effective products that deliver proven clinical and health economic benefits.
