Dash Rehab launches lightweight powered wheelchair with innovative split-frame design
Mobility equipment supplier Dash Rehab has launched a new powerchair which offers performance, comfort and adaptability in a lightweight design.
The Dash Lunar Powerchair features the UK-designed Lunar Latch system, an innovative split-frame design which allows the chair to separate into two sections in seconds, making it easier to lift, store and transport. The heaviest section weighs just 11kg, while the whole chair weighs 20.86kg without the battery and 24.26kg with it.
A spokesperson for Dash Rehab commented: “For users, carers and family members, that difference can be significant. The ability to separate the chair into manageable sections can make loading a vehicle less physically demanding and reduce the reliance on hoists, ramps or larger vehicles. The compact design also makes the Lunar easier to store when it is not in use.”
Available in teal, black and navy blue, the Lunar supports users up to 150kg and is powered by dual 250W motors and a 20Ah lithium battery as standard. It can travel up to 25km on a single charge and reach speeds of up to 7km/h, giving users the capability for everyday journeys rather than simply short, occasional trips.
The chair has been designed with comfort and practical usability with shock-absorbing front castor suspension to help reduce vibration when travelling over uneven surfaces. Padded seating, a 50cm-wide seat and flip-up armrests provide additional comfort and accessibility.
Other options with the powerchair include a 10Ah flight-safe battery, a rear attendant controller and a detachable front light incorporating charging ports.
The Lunar is also intended to provide a platform for continued development rather than as a static product. Dash Rehab says that it is planning to introduce the Lunar Comfort range this autumn, which will allow existing chairs to be upgraded with enhanced postural support. Proposed additions for this include specialist seating systems, lateral supports, headrests and hemiplegic arm supports.
The Lunar will be showcased at Rehacare 2026 in Germany later this month, which Dash Rehab hope will provide an opportunity to demonstrate the chair’s split-frame design to mobility professionals from across the world.
