Curtiss-Wright launches new range of connected controllers for powered wheelchairs

The R-net PM2-C is designed to deliver advanced data-logging, powerful connectivity, and unmatched customization for manufacturers, healthcare providers, service technicians, and end-users.
Its enhanced data-logging capabilities include six independent logs that record powerchair-specific events including battery charge and discharge cycles, configuration changes, and error occurrences, with each event date and time-stamped using the integrated Real-Time Clock, providing a detailed record for analysis and warranty support.
With built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, the R-net PM2-C allows powerchair data to be sent securely to the cloud or Curtiss-Wright’s My Powerchair app, a connectivity that supports remote diagnostics, user notifications, and easy access to service information.
The controller’s Charge Current Measurement feature enables precise tracking of battery usage, helping to monitor battery health and ensure proper charging practices. It also continuously monitors up to 16 powerchair properties and, in the event of a fault, assembles a Diagnostic Package that can be automatically transmitted for rapid service response.
Capable of pairing with up to eight Bluetooth devices, allowing users to control computers, smartphones, and tablets directly from their powerchair input device, the R-net PM2-C offers up to 140A of drive current – making it Curtiss-Wright’s most powerful powerchair controller to date – and features a dedicated Customer Code Space that enables OEMs to develop unique features and tailor drive behavior to specific needs.
Additional features and benefits of the R-net PM2-C include support for Li-ion batteries with new state-of-charge parameters, a battery management system interface for future integration and unique Smart Fuse technology for optimal cable protection. Installation is easy thanks to familiar R-net PM120 footprint and connectors.
