Kidz to Adultz Event Change

Originally set to take place on the 7th May 2020, Disabled Living, the organiser of the Kidz to Adultz events, has confirmed its South show has been postponed until September.

In a statement issued by Disabled Living, the registered charity highlighted the impact that the outbreak of coronavirus has had on it.

“The Kidz to Adultz events are an extremely valuable and key source of information and advice for many, many people. Like many charities this has been a very complex and difficult time,” said Disabled Living.

According to the Charities Aid Foundation, there are over 167,000 charities in England and Wales alone and, like almost every area of the UK economy, the charity sector has felt the impact of COVID-19 hard.

Many charities have highlighted the catch-22 situation of their services being needed now more than ever whilst simultaneously seeing a dramatic drop in donations and fundraising.

Speaking with Sky News at the end of March, Caroline Adams, Director of Age UK, commented: “I think for us and other charities we can see a sort of a slow motion car crash unfolding which is a huge and growing demand for our services,” she said.

“At the same time, we can see our income line going down.”

For many charities, events and exhibitions form a large element of their ability to generate funds, however, the disruption and uncertainty caused by the coronavirus just as the country enters the busy events seasons has left many concerned over the financial impact.

Stressing the importance of keeping disabled young people safe, Disabled Living stated: “Our priority continues to be the safety of all those involved, in particular our vulnerable children and young adults, their carers and the health professionals who support them, as well as our team and of course all the exhibitors and contractors involved in putting together these amazing events.

“We will be sending out regular newsletters and mailings to all our contacts and posting regular updates on our website and social media sites including lots of useful tips and ways to keep fit and entertained during this period of isolation.”

Kidz to Adultz South will now take place on Wednesday 30th September 2020, 9.30am – 4.30pm, at the same venue, Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre.

It is one in a long line of industry events to have been pushed back as the UK continues to tackle the spread of COVID-19 by staying indoors. The growing list of events now includes Naidex, Motability’s The Big Event, multiple OTAC conferences and Warrington Disability Partnership’s Disability Awareness Day.

Disabled Living finished: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our wonderful visitors and all those who contribute to these events for all their continued support. In the meantime, keep safe and well!”

The Kidz to Adultz events are focused on children and young adults with disabilities and additional needs, their parents, carers and the professionals who support them. The regional shows take place throughout the year, providing companies with the opportunity to showcase their latest paediatric ranges to children and parents, as well as enabling healthcare professionals to attend free CPD seminars.
