The council says it is looking to attract applicants from a broad range of backgrounds, with different skills, experiences and perspectives, who share a commitment to making a positive difference to people’s lives.

Working in Adult Social Care can provide opportunities to build meaningful relationships, develop transferable skills and support some of the city’s most vulnerable residents.

Councillor Lucy Steels-Walshaw, Executive Member for Health, Wellbeing and Adult Social Care at City of York Council, said: “Every day, our teams support people across York to stay independent, feel connected to their communities, and live the lives they want.

“It’s meaningful work, and many colleagues tell us that supporting people in this way is one of the most rewarding careers they’ve had.

“York is looking for people who care about others and want to make a positive difference. Whether you’ve worked in support services for years, are thinking about a change in direction, or are just starting out in employment, there’s a range of career opportunities that will help you develop new skills, grow in confidence and offer great job satisfaction.

“We know that strong teams are built from a mix of experiences, backgrounds and perspectives. If you’re curious about working in support services, I’d encourage you to explore the roles available and see what might suit you.”
