Cavalry Care and TillyCo proudly celebrated the official opening of Stanley Bungalows, a specialist supported living development in Prescot

Cavalry Care and TillyCo have officially opened a specialist supported living development in Merseyside, after it transformed a once-derelict historic site into six homes designed to support people with complex care needs.

The launch event at Stanley Bungalows in Prescot, Merseyside, welcomed commissioners, social workers, healthcare professionals, partners, and members of the local community to experience the newly completed development, tour the homes, and meet the teams behind the project.

Over recent months, TillyCo has undertaken a complete renovation of the historic buildings, carefully balancing modern design with the preservation of the site’s original character and heritage. Originally built as almshouses for workers on the Knowsley Estate, the buildings have now been given a new lease of life, continuing their long-standing purpose of supporting people within the community.

Connor Simpson, Managing Director of Cavalry Supported Living, said: “From the outset, our focus has been to create homes that genuinely meet the needs of the people who will live here. We work closely with commissioners and the property team to design spaces that are safe, practical and tailored to individual needs, while ensuring they feel like real homes rather than clinical environments.

“The quality of the finish throughout the development is exceptional. The Tillyco team has retained so much of the building’s original character while creating modern, welcoming homes with thoughtful features that support independence and wellbeing. It’s a large, beautiful site that will provide six fantastic homes where people can feel safe, secure and part of a community.”

The development has been clinically informed throughout the design process, with specialist input helping to create environments that support long-term independence and quality of life. Features include accessible wet rooms, carefully designed kitchens with enhanced safety measures, landscaped green spaces, and plans for a community garden and shared outdoor facilities.

Rory McDonnell, CEO of Cavalry Healthcare, said: “When we first saw Stanley Bungalows, the buildings were completely derelict. Bringing them back into use has been a real labour of love for Tillyco, and we’re incredibly proud of what has been achieved.

“These homes have been rebuilt around the needs of the people who will live here, creating spaces that are not only functional but genuinely life-changing. There’s something particularly special about restoring buildings that were originally created to care for people and returning them to that purpose once again.”

He added: “What makes TillyCo different is that they’re not simply developing properties – we’re designing homes together informed by clinical expertise. By working alongside specialist nurses, occupational therapists and multidisciplinary professionals, we’re able to create environments that work for people today and continue to support them well into the future.”
