CareFlex Specialist Seating celebrates 30 years of innovation and manufacturing in Devon

This October marks a major milestone for CareFlex Specialist Seating, as the Devon-based manufacturer celebrates 30 years of innovation, craftsmanship, and care.
To celebrate the occasion, the CareFlex team came together last month for a special anniversary trip to London, so that they could reflect on three decades of achievement and looking forward to the future with pride and purpose.
Since 1995, CareFlex has been designing and manufacturing specialist seating solutions in the UK, improving lives through products that balance comfort, posture management, pressure relief, and independence.
Part of the CliniMed Group, CareFlex employs 54 people, mostly from the local area, all committed to improving comfort, dignity, and quality of life for the people they support. Every CareFlex chair is designed and built to order at the company’s Heathfield, Devon factory, combining precision engineering, advanced pressure care technology, and skilled craftsmanship.
Jon Riglar, Managing Director of CareFlex, commented: “As we mark CareFlex’s 30th anniversary, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we’ve been on and to sincerely pay tribute to the dedicated and talented team that has helped make it all possible.
“Over the last three decades, we have launched innovative new products and services, entered new markets, and embraced new manufacturing techniques and systems, all of which have meant we can help more people, every day.
“Two things have been central to our success – a keen focus on the needs of our customers, and the incredible skill and commitment of our employees, partners and suppliers. What began as a small company with a big idea is now a trusted name, known across the UK (and beyond) for innovation, compassion and care.”
CareFlex offers a range of specialist seating with features to suit the needs of elderly individuals and people with complex postural or mobility requirements. The company works in close partnership with occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure its seating solution is tailored to users’ needs.
Last year CareFlex welcomed Mel Stride, MP for Central Devon and Secretary of State for Department of Work and Pensions, to its headquarters in Newton Abbot.
