CareCo’s lightweight folding mobility scooter wins iF Design Award For Excellent Design

National mobility retailer CareCo has announced that its newly launched mobility scooter, the Li-Tech Cybex, has won the iFAward For Excellent Design.
CareCo stated that receiving the iF Design Award was a proud milestone and was proof of its continued commitment to creating mobility aids that improve people’s daily lives, while still keeping sustainability, efficiency and innovation at its core.
William Harrison, Founder of CareCo, commented: “The iF Design Award is a great honour and a reminder to keep pushing boundaries and creating products that genuinely improve people’s lives.”
The Cybex’s seat is made from lightweight magnesium, while the scooter’s frame is made from aluminium, giving the scooter optimum strength without the weight of steel.
The magnesium seat frame offers a higher strength-to-weight ratio, according to CareCo, ensuring the Cybex can better withstand prolonged use. Its aluminium frame also provides corrosion resistance.
This year, the jury for the iF Design Awards was made up of 131 international experts, who judged all submitted products on five main categories: idea, form, function, differentiation and sustainability.
All submitted products were judged, among other things, on the quality of the product’s eco-friendly materials and how it has been optimised for energy efficiency.
The lithium-ion (Li-on) battery is a sustainable addition that made the Cybex stand out, as according to CareCo, lithium-ion batteries push mobility scooters further than lead-acid batteries.
The Cybex was highlighted further for its portability, practicality and efficiency. Its auto-folding mechanism folds the scooter at the touch of a button. Weighing 23kg, the Cybex is also easy to lift into a car boot.
Other features of the Cybex include front suspension, a padded seat, a height-adjustable tiller bar and keyless ignition.
CareCo recently announced that it had opened its 37th showroom in the historic city of York, its sixth opening in 2025.
