CareCo hosts gala dinner to raise £6,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support
Mobility retailer CareCo hosted a charity gala dinner recently which raised over £6,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The event was held at Channels in Chelmsford on Saturday, 9th November, and was attended by CareCo staff and partners.
CareCo, a national mobility retailer with shops across England, Scotland, and Wales, has supported eight team members living with cancer, making Macmillan an obvious choice for partnership.
Of the £6,000 raised through the event, £2,000 was generated from ticket sales and £4,000 was collected on the evening itself.
Together with events throughout the year, such as a recent charity walk across the Jurassic Coast, this brings the annual fundraising total to date to £16,000.
The black-tie ball welcomed guests with drinks on arrival and featured games, an auction, a three-course dinner, a raffle, and DJs to fill the dancefloor.
Prizes generously donated included a bespoke custom suit, Leeds Rhinos VIP tickets, Tottenham Hotspur vs. Newcastle United tickets, a World Cup football signed by Jack Grealish, and a London Eye experience.
CareCo extended its thanks for generous donations from SmartFirm, HUB, Drive Medical, Auditel, and Clements and Church. The company also expressed its gratitude to everyone who attended the event.
On the night Malcolm Harrison, Chairman of CareCo and auctioneer for the evening, highlighted the vital work Macmillan Cancer Support in his opening speech, which included supporting 98 per cent of its funding from fundraising.
Jane Bunting, Head of Human Resources at CareCo, reflected on the success of the evening, saying: “It was an incredible night. I want to thank everyone for their generosity towards such an important charity, which is so close to our hearts at CareCo.
“It was wonderful to see full tables, generous donors, and some friendly, competitive bidding. Everyone looked fantastic, enjoyed a delicious meal, and many of us danced into the early hours of the morning.
“I’d also like to extend my gratitude to all the hardworking staff who looked after us so well on the evening and made the event truly special.”
