Essex-based company Elias Care is set to open a new mobility store at the end of March, selling a range of mobility aids to customers.

Planning to open on the 26th of March, the new shop will sell mobility scooters, dementia puzzles and other independent living aids to new and existing customers. It will also have a dedicated area to hold group meetings for individuals to talk bout their experiences of dementia, Parkinson’s and strokes.

Elias Care provides a bespoke care service to individuals in their homes, aiming to provide a care package that meets the requirements of both the client and their family.

Registered Manager and Founder of Elias Care Jennifer Biggins set up the business after taking sabbatical leave to care for her terminally ill father.

She told the Epping Forest Guardian: “My father had cancer and was given three months to live and he lived for another 16 years. He was adamant he lived as long as he did because of the care he was getting.

“We are trying to focus on things people don’t get through social services. We are trying to make sure people maintain their independence as long as possible for instance a special kettle which makes and pours a cup of tea.

“I have seen how people benefit with these aids and they are not available along the high street, we thought it would be so much nicer for the local people to have access to this equipment.”

Elias Care Office Manager Kaleda Mendy announced that there will also be a pre-opening party on the 25th of March from 4pm onwards, where people can receive refreshments and goodie bags.

She said: “We would love everyone to come down and here some talks and just be an outreach place for people who don’t know too much about us, the nearest mobility shop is in Harlow.”
