Care and Independence sling

Safe patient moving and handling experts, Care & Independence, has stated that its new sling innovation could provide a major step change – for both the less abled and their carers – in hoisting comfortably.

The new Glove Diamond Deluxe and Glove Diamond Deluxe Plus slings come with enhanced benefits, according to the manufacturer, which first launched its much imitated Glove sling over 15 years ago.

A “deluxe-style” shape provides full-body support with a patented diamond-shaped aperture, reducing pressure on the sacrum and coccyx when hoisted and providing increased toileting access.

Further comfort and performance enhancing features include patented binding free leg sections constructed from Hyperlast slidesheet material on both front and back plus vertebrae section to help reduce tissue viability risks caused from drag and shear.

Leg sections also benefit from 3-D weave spacer material padding that stretches to better support the body and keeps its form and position throughout the sling life.

Care & Independence state that the patent-pending positioning pockets innovation promotes better greater dignity for users in hoisting, better safe patient handling practices and avoids compromising ease of fitting from awkwardly placed protruding grab handles or straps.

James Bennett, Care & Independence’s Sales and Marketing Director has hailed the launch of the Glove Diamond family as “a game changer”.

“From the market feedback we’ve received and pressure mapping evidence from third party testing now completed, we firmly believe that the Glove Diamond Deluxe and Glove Diamond Deluxe Plus will set new industry standards for years to come.

“The new Glove Diamond slings we have developed surpass anything we have previously produced,” he says.

““We have spent the past 18 months painstakingly researching, testing and evolving the sling design into what we now firmly believe is the pinnacle of contemporary sling innovation – and for the primary benefit of those that need it most.

“We are confident that the outcome is two sling styles that are unrivalled for comfort and performance, and that is something of which the team and I are immensely proud to have delivered.”

Oxfordshire-headquartered Care & Independence manufactures slings, shower chairs and cradles and stretchers, alongside selling a varied range of mobility aids and products to hospitals, nursing and residential homes and private customers.

The firm has stated that the Glove Diamond Deluxe and Glove Diamond Deluxe Plus are available now for assessment-led general purchase.
