Budget reveals multi-million-pound funding into Disabled Facilities Grant, NHS and care sector
Chancellor Philip Hammond has presented his Budget to Parliament, highlighting key funding into the NHS, social care for children and adults, and the Disabled Facilities Grant.
In his speech, Chancellor Hammond announced that an additional £45 million would be put into the Disabled Facilities Grant in England for 2018-2019. This builds on the £240 million investment into adult social care this winter, announced by the Department of Health and Social Care earlier this month, which aims to reduce NHS pressures.
The Disabled Facilities Grant is given to disabled people to allow them to make essential changes to their homes in order to make them accessible. This includes ramp and stairlift installations, widening doors and adapted heating and lighting controls.
In addition, the Budget highlighted that the NHS is a priority, with the Government increasing its budget by £20.5 billion by 2023-2034. The Chancellor also said that local authorities in England will receive a further £650 million in social care funding in 2019.
The Chancellor added that the Government will invest £84 million to expand its Children’s Social Care programmes to 20 councils with high or rising numbers of children in care. This will enable councils to improve services for older people, disabled people and children in care.https://thiis.co.uk/budget-reveals-multi-million-pound-funding-into-disabled-facilities-grant-nhs-and-care-sector/https://i0.wp.com/thiis.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Philip-Hammond.jpg?fit=1024%2C576&ssl=1https://i0.wp.com/thiis.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Philip-Hammond.jpg?resize=150%2C150&ssl=1Government & Local AuthoritiesInvestments & FundingNewsroomBudget,Budget 2018,care sector,Chancellor Philip Hammond,Disabled Facilities Grant,NHS,social careChancellor Philip Hammond has presented his Budget to Parliament, highlighting key funding into the NHS, social care for children and adults, and the Disabled Facilities Grant. In his speech, Chancellor Hammond announced that an additional £45 million would be put into the Disabled Facilities Grant in England for 2018-2019.
