BREAKING: Prime minister Boris Johnson confirms he has coronavirus
Prime minister Boris Johnson has announced he has contracted coronavirus and is exhibiting mild symptoms as the UK continues the fight to stop the spread of the virus.
Leading the nation during the outbreak of COVID-19, prime minister Boris Johnson confirmed in a video posted on Twitter today that he has tested positive for COVID-19.
“Over the last 24 hours I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus. I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as we fight this virus. Together we will beat this. #StayHomeSaveLives” reads the tweet.
The prime minister says he will now work from home and highlighted that he would be able to continue to lead the nation through the crisis thanks to “the wizardry of modern technology.”
He finished by thanking all those in the NHS and everybody working to keep the country operating whilst on lockdown due to the pandemic and reinforced the need to stay at home to stop transmissions.
